Napa is a place unlike any other. Everyone should get to experience this scenic place filled with over 600 iconic wineries. I’m so lucky that I got the chance to spend time in the Napa valley recently, with one of my most dear girlfriends.
Now Napa is known for its cabernets, merlots and chardonnays, so I certainly got to expand my palate while I was there. Some wineries are nestled in farmhouses, others are more commercialized and grand, like castles, or with tasting rooms in wine caves.
In wine country you’ll meet winemakers and vineyard managers who live and breathe wine. They’ll give you a personal tour of their vineyards, answer your questions sharing what makes the Napa & Sonoma Valleys a place unlike any other for creating some of the world’s finest wines. It all has to do with the geology, climate and geography that make this place perfect for the growing some of the finest grapes for producing wine.
You could experience one winery every day for two years and still not see them all in the Napa and Sonoma region. Now wouldn’t that be the life huh? I’ll be sharing some of our experiences from Napa, so stay tuned! To start, one of the best experiences was a special tasting, a Wine & Chocolate Pairing in the Nomad Heritage Library at Stewart Cellars. Stewart Cellars is a beautiful property located in the charming downtown area of Yountville.
The Nomad Heritage Library looks like a bohemian bookstore meets Celtic-inspired luxe den. The space is filled with a mash up of textures, eclectic decor pieces, interesting books, and opens up to a patio overlooking grand heritage oak trees.
I learned a lot from our tasting host, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the wines. I could tell from the first sip that they were really well made. The chocolates from Kollar Chocolates were the same. The wine I enjoyed the most was the merlot, it was really fruity and rich. Another interesting wine was the 2015 Stewart Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Stewart’s is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. We learned that most are blends of multiple grapes, put this was pure.
Stewart is definitely a winery to add to your wine country itinerary. Our visit was definitely a memory I know we’ll cherish from our girls weekend. I mean you should go simply for the Instagram opportunities, but also of course for the wine 😉
