Exhibit “SUPER. NATURAL. Glass Art by Jason Gamrath”
I recently had an opportunity to spend an afternoon exploring Pittsburgh’s Phipps Conservatory during the Super Natural glass exhibit. Phipps offers a beautiful, tranquil place to escape to for a relaxing time. You can stroll for as long as you’d like to, refreshing yourself by soaking in the greenhouse air. These gorgeous professional photos are by my creative BBF Meaghan Cutrell Photography of Westmoreland County. See the full gallery here.
Check out more information about the artist and see more pictures and video from the display on the Phipps website here.
After a very stressful week, I took advantage of my birthday gift card to Above All Grand Salon & Spa in Wexford. Having never been to a spa before, nor had a massage, and only having my nails done about 4 times in my life, this was a real treat. I booked an hour long hybrid massage. This combines a full range of massage techniques including Swedish, Reiki & Deep Tissue with warm towels and aromatherapy oils.
Located in a strip mall area off of Route 19 in Wexford, near Whole Foods, the inside of the space seems to be inspired by a Tuscan Villa. Warm browns and golden tones are found throughout the tiles, wall colors, fixtures and decor. I was surprised at how spacious the salon and spa areas were, compete with 3 receptionist, they have a lot going on here!
My massage was very enjoyable. My masseuse really did focus on the areas I had requested, where I had been holding my stress all week in my neck, shoulders and back. Now I am finding myself wanting to return every month for needed therapy. I also feel it might be in my favor to send my BF when he becomes too much of a crabby pants. This refresh might just be necessary to help us both stay sane. I would encourage anyone in the market for spa treatments to check out Above All Grand Salon & Spa in Wexford!
Every holiday season, I cannot wait to get to visit the Winter Flower Show and Light Garden at Pittsburgh’s Phipps Conservatory. I got even more excited when my Timehop app shared pictures from my 2015 winter trip. So I thought I’d get a head start on sharing my favorite moments from these beautiful Pittsburgh indoor gardens.
2015 Winter Flower Show
Update I finally made it to the show! Even post Christmas, Phipp’s displays still capture the essence of the season.
“I’m so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers.”
Well it is really official now, fall is here! October first I got into the season with a visit to Pittsburgh’s best pumpkin patch at Soergel’s Orchard in Wexford PA. This place is amazing. There is truly something for everyone with a pumpkin patch, pick your own apples and sunflowers, hay rides, a full fledged grocery, deli, fresh bakery, separate organic & health specialty grocery store, cider press with demonstrations, outdoor food vendors, kid’s activities galore, florist, nursery, home decor shop, gift shop, wine tastings from Arrowhead Wines, and now even Arsenal Cider is on site! I may have even forgot a few things. Seriously I could spend hours here and even return 3 or 4 more times this season. I really encourage anyone in the Pittsburgh area to experience this all for yourself.
Here’s some pictures of the amazingness that is Soergel’s and of me in my element, frolicking in the pumpkin patch, sunflower field and apple orchard.
As you can see my visit was very festive, I even learned how apple cider is made and how it is different from apple juice. It was inspiring to see that Soergel’s cider press manager is so passionate about his craft.
The home decor shop features a fun selection of fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations! I really had to restrain myself from purchasing all the velvet pumpkins & sparkly things.
